Amboise is a picturesque town, as evidenced by the watercolor in this jigsaw puzzle, in the Loire Valley region of France. The Loire Valley is an area famous for its vineyards and castles. Amboise itself has a spectacular 15th century castle, or chateau, perched on a hill overlooking the town and is also famous for being the spot where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last few years. There are several other attractions in and around the town, including an aquarium containing over 10,000 fish and a park featuring scale replicas of the most famous castles in France. Amboise makes a great base for touring the surrounding countryside but it is often overcrowded during the summer months.
