The armadillo, such as the one featured in this online jigsaw puzzle, is a mammal of about 30 inches in length, although the size can vary significantly between species. Armadillos are characterized by their armored exterior which is a boney material covered with bumpy scales. The armadillo’s armor provides excellent protection from would be predators. In the United States, the armadillo is found primarily in Texas, but its range has expanded to many other states as well. Armadillos are good diggers and dine mainly on grubs and insects.
