At full stretch, and with flaps down, as it comes in to land, this jigsaw puzzle features the Supermarine Spitfire. It captures the aerial beauty and elegance of this most well known and loved of World War II fighters. Deployed most famously by the British in the Battle of Britain, the Spitfire out-classed and out- maneuvered its German adversaries, and helped change the course of the war, through its successful defense of Britain. The model pictured here is one of the few surviving IX series Spitfires, as flown at the Farnborough International Airshow, in the UK in 2010.
