Diamond Head is the name of a volcano in the state of Hawaii, located on the island of Oahu. Diamond Head has a lot of complex cones and vents, but the volcano itself has long been dormant. This particular volcano is much younger than the rest of the Ko’olau Mountain Range. The eruption that built this volcano structure was probably only a few days long. Experts believe it erupted over a coral reef due to rising magma that came into contact with the water level. The brief eruption helps to explain why the cone shape of the volcano is symmetrical. The scene in this jigsaw puzzle is from Diamond Head Crater Park.
