Canada has many wonderful cities including Edmonton whose history goes back several centuries before European exploration opened it to the rest of the world. Edmonton was established as a fur trading post by Hudson’s Bay Company in the 18th century as Fort Edmonton emerged to become a major distribution and supply center. It became incorporated as a city in 1904 and became the capital of Alberta in 1905.
