There are many things that draw people to Manhattan Beach year after year including the scenic 928-foot long pier shown in this jigsaw puzzle. The pier located at the end of Manhattan Beach Boulevard where fishing is permitted all year. In 1901, George Peck owned the north portion of the city while John Merrill owned the south portion. It was named after Merrill’s New York City home after a coin toss. With an average winter temperature of 55 degrees and summer temperature of 70 degrees, Manhattan Beach is rather pleasant year round. Manhattan Beach is also well known for volleyball and hosts the Manhattan Beach Open volleyball tournament.
