The watercolor in this jigsaw puzzle features a scene of Avenida dos Aliados in Oporto, Portugal. Oporto is known as the second city of Portugal and as its second largest metropolis. The ancient city has long been a port and a holder of the country’s history and traditions. Located on both banks of the river Douro, the city is very famous for the export of wine bearing its name. It is also known for the Avenida dos Aliados, the city’s heart featuring grand buildings, usually hotels or banks, and a central promenade with a garden remodeled by renowned architect Alvaro Siza Vieira. One may also find several cafes in which to sit and relax, especially within the historic Guarany area.
