Patterned arches and columns in Cordoba Cathedral in Cordoba, Spain. The building was originally built as a mosque in 785 AD, but was converted to a cathedral when the region was captured 1236 AD by Christian forces. The arches shown here are part of the original mosque. The building is considered to be an historic example of Islamic architecture.
