Rio de Janeiro, (in English: River of January) is Brazil’s second largest city. It is one of the most exciting and beautiful cities in the world and is famous for its white sand beaches, nightlife and carnival. The carnival is held every year just before Lent and it attracts millions of people from around the world. Two of the most popular attractions in Rio de Janeiro are the distinctive Sugarloaf Mountain, accessible by cable car; and the huge statue of Christ the Redeemer, which overlooks the city. Sugarloaf Mountain is prominently featured in the background of this online jigsaw puzzle. Rio de Janeiro is a stylish and fashionable city, although it also has more than its fair share of slums, or shanty towns.
