Giant hands rise up from the Grand Canal to support an historic hotel in Venice, Italy. The sculpture is designed to symbolize both the effects of climate change and mankind’s effort to counteract it. Venice is struggling against a rise in the Mediterranean Sea level, and may become mostly submerged by 2100 if scientific estimates of sea level rise prove accurate.
