The tarantula spider, like the one featured in this jigsaw puzzle, is a large, hairy, scary looking spider. Despite its intimidating appearance, tarantulas are generally harmless to humans. Even when they do bite their venom is usually no worse than a bee sting. Some species of tarantulas get big enough to eat items beyond the insect menu. The Goliath Bird eater has been observed eating small birds. It is not known to eat birds often, but like most spiders, it mostly eats fellow invertebrates, such as other spiders and insects.
