The Bedroom by Vincent van Gogh was painted in 1888 in Arles, France. Throughout his lifetime, van Gogh struggled with depression and tried a variety of vocations before finally focusing on art. But he left a legacy of over 800 paintings from his 10 years as an artist. The Bedroom was painted after he moved into the first house of his own.
