Yellow fronted woodpeckers are primarily found in Brazil and Argentina. In fact, the woodpecker in this jigsaw puzzle was photographed in Itatiaia National Park, Brazil. Normally, these birds will have a yellow forehead and front yellow neck. They live mostly in low land areas of the forest. The population for yellow fronted woodpeckers is not known and they are not listed as being endangered. Very little information is known about these birds. However, they are known for their singing and beating on large trees and are easy to identify.
Yellow fronted woodpeckers thrive in tropical rain forests and eat insects from trees to survive. It is not uncommon to find holes they have dug into rain forest trees. Most yellow fronted woodpeckers nest in trees and are known to be monogamous. The history of these birds is not well preserved. Today, they are very popular among bird enthusiasts and bird photographers.
